In the Philippines, we celebrate the Philippine Heart Month every February and Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital is always enthusiastic to celebrate this occasion. This year we had the theme “One Heart, One Nation, One Music”. Last February 14 we gave a 30% discount on our ECG service. For those who don’t know ECG or Electrocardiogram is a medical test that detects heart problems by measuring the electrical activity generated by the heart as it contracts. There was a free consultation; and a Thyroid Cancer Fora was also presented to create more awareness. “Thyroid cancer occurs in the cells of the thyroid — a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your neck, just below your Adam's apple. We started the festivity with a motorcade which was held on the 18th of August, followed by a family day on the 19th, and the highlight of the event was the Appreciation night that was held on the 22nd at the Grand caprice Convention Center; the said night was attended by our Board Members, Doctors, Nurses, and staffs from the other departments. May 29, 2018 is a remarkable day not just for the Kagay-anons but as for the people of Northern Mindanao. During this month we celebrated “The National Cervical Cancer Consciousness” with a theme “Kalusugan ng Mag-ina ay Pahalagahan. Magpa-cervical cancer screening at magpabakuna laban sa HPV”.
