In the Philippines, we celebrate the Philippine Heart Month every February and Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital is always enthusiastic to celebrate this occasion. This year we had the theme “One Heart, One Nation, One Music”. Last February 14 we gave a 30% discount on our ECG service. There was a free consultation; and a Thyroid Cancer Fora was also presented to create more awareness. “Thyroid cancer occurs in the cells of the thyroid — a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your neck, just below your Adam's apple. Your thyroid produces hormones that regulate your heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature and weight. Protect My Heart; Your Heart was this year’s MRXUHs promise for the World Heart Day. Yes we did celebrate the World Heart Day; for most of us we think that the month of February is the month to celebrate the world heart day; yes we may be right with that, but in the Philippines the Month of February is the Philippine Heart Month; but for the world to celebrate it is on the month of September. August 22, 2018 marks the Diamond (60th) Anniversary of Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital. We started the festivity with a motorcade which was held on the 18th of August, followed by a family day on the 19th, and the highlight of the event was the Appreciation night that was held on the 22nd at the Grand caprice Convention Center; the said night was attended by our Board Members, Doctors, Nurses, and staffs from the other departments. The month of August was a beginning of a new MRXUH as we celebrate another milestone, and as a prelude event to our “60 and Beyond” mind set of events; we begin it by celebrating the World Breastfeeding Week last August 7-11, 2018. It was a jam-packed week as we made sure to provide a preeminent event for all our walk-in guests, breastfeeding mothers and to the, to be mothers. May 29, 2018 is a remarkable day not just for the Kagay-anons but as for the people of Northern Mindanao. During this month we celebrated “The National Cervical Cancer Consciousness” with a theme “Kalusugan ng Mag-ina ay Pahalagahan. Magpa-cervical cancer screening at magpabakuna laban sa HPV”. The said event was hosted by one of Cagayan de Oro’s finest hospital Maria Reyna-Xavier University Hospital also known as MRXUH. This was spearheaded by the Department of Health Region 10.
